<p>Tuesday 21<br />Wind NE &amp; E Cloudy in mg. Clear in Ev.g Cold. <br />Holidays. I went to [Jno?] Rowe&rsquo;s in Ev.g. got a Todays <br />Richmond paper there. The firing heard Sunday Ev.g was<br />between three US Steamers the Monticello &amp; two smaller Steamers<br />who attempted to destroy an unfinished Earth Work they are <br />erecting at Seawells point, &amp; to dismount some Guns they got in Battery <br />the night before. The Steamers were repulsed it is said with <br />a good deal of damage. Nobody hurt on our side.</p>

Wind E. Clear. Replanting Corn. I went to Guinea &
voted & went from there to Gloster Town. Report says
there were six men killed & a good many wounded on the
Monticello last Sunday, & the Steamer very much injured.

Friday 24
Wind SE mg SE Ev.g. Clear. Taking 2nd furrow from
Corn with Two Ploughs. Weeding Corn with hoes

Saturday 25
Wind W Clear Taking 2nd furrow with 3 Ploughs. Weeding
Corn. Began to catch ‘Sheeps head” very abundantly
