Wind W Clear. Harrowing Two Harrows. Too wet to plant
corn, cleaned up walks in garden. Removed corn from cron
house to barn, picked out seed corn. Mr Curtis here in M.g.

Thursday 24
Wind E & NE Cloudy cold and disagreeable.
Planting Corn. Sent a Ham &c to Charles Curtis
who is on the Peninsula by Mr Bryan. some firing
to,day but not enough for a battle.

Friday 25
Wind NE. Cloudy & cold. Rained frequently during the day
Planting Corn. Harrowing two harrows.

Saturday 26
Wind NE. Rained all day. Planted corn & harrowed in m.g.
but had to stop early & hands did nothing balance of the day.
Tis a dredful spell of weather, the sun has not shown for a week.

Sunday 27
Wind NE. Cloudy & cold. Warner & I staid at home
Maria went to Wilson’s Creek. Chas Curtis came with her in Evg.

Monday 28
Wind SE Cloudy m.g. Clear aftn Planting Corn. C Curtis
went to York. Harrowing Two Harrows.

Tuesday 29
Wind S & E. Cloudy m.g. & clear Evg. Planting Corn. Heavy firing to,day at York

Wednesday 30
Wind E. Cloudy & cold. Planting Corn. New Orleans is taken  Alas, Alas. our
affairs certainly look gloomy. But I will hope still for better fortune
