Wind SW Clear. We staid at home. Mr Curtis and
Sister Harriet spent the day here.

Monday 14

Wind SW. Clear. Cutting Oats. James & Jas Henry
throwing second furrows to Corn. From later accounts
it seems the McClellan did not succeed in getting as
far as Sandy Point, but is entrenching himself at or near
Westover under cover of his Gun Boats.

Tuesday 15

Wind S & SE. Clear till late in Evg & very hot. A Thunder Cloud
in Evg & a good deal of Rain at night. Cutting Oats.
James & Jas henry throwing second furrows to Corn.

Monday 16

Wind SW & SE. Clear till Ev.g. then a Thunder Cloud and a
little rain at night. Finished Cutting Oats
James & Jas Henry throwing 2nd furrows to Corn. Mr Mann
and Mr Curtis dined here. George Brown was here in m.g.
He came to get me to write a letter to Col Page about getting back
to his Regt from which he had deserted. R Rowe & J Thomas with him.


Thursday 17

Wind SE Clear in mg. Thunder Cloud in Evg & rain at night. Gaave the
people Holiday. They Cut Oats at Selden’s. I hired Younger, James, Jas Henry
Polly & Catherine to work Corn. I went to the Ct House.
