Friday 17th

Wind E Clear. Cutting down & shucking Corn in field
Joshua went to Mill in Ox Cart. Wm carried Cotton &
Yarn yesterday to Mrs Carney to weave into cloth for Negroes
30 lbs Cotton & 50 lbs Yarn & 5 lbs yarn for Carter’s clothes also 3 lbs
fine Cotton & 7 lbs find yarn for Richard & Charley. He also
carried Nancy Smith a white girl who has been nursing Farley’s
child to Capt Fitzhughs. He came by Tan Yard & brought
a side Sole Leather a Calf skin & 4 sheep skins.
The Gun Boat came back this morning took Capt [Willeys?]
vessel & went away about 1.o.clck. The Villians. I hope for good & all.
I went to Wilsons Creek in Evg to meet Frank New who came to buy
some Mules from Mrs. Taylor, he had left.

Saturday 18

Wind N Clear. Cutting down hauling & shucking Corn.
Gathered some Hominy corn. Made pen for fattening pigs
I went to Ct house. It is reported in papers that Bragg has gained
a great victory over Buell in K.Y. 25 thousand federals said
to be killed wounded & taken prisoners, our loss heave but
small in comparison.
