Sunday 12th

Wind NE & a terrible day rained and blew all day
We staid at home.

Monday 13

Wind NE Rained & blew all morning Cloudy in Evg
Hands did nothing but get some wood. Farley Taylor
went home in Ev.g but left her baby here.

Tuesday 14

Wind NE Cloudy & rainy in m.g. Clear late in Ev.g.
cutting down hauling & shucking Corn
Dr Byrd & family here in mg. Major Sinclair & Mr Bryan dined here

Wednesday 15

wind N Clear & cool. Cutting hauling & shucking Corn.
I went to Ct house. Heard we had captured Louisville K.Y.
A Yankee gun boat came up the River this Evening
anchored off Deals & spent the night there, what she is
after I cant think. Got a letter from Martha Taylor
stating that Col Taylor’s man Lawson who I saw twice in
Richmond and then sick, had the Small Pox

Thursday 16

Wind E Clear. Cutting down hauling & shucking Corn.
The Gun Boat anchored off my house this mg early, about 2 Oclk
a steam Tug came to her & immediately returned. in an hour after
the Gun boat left also. They did not land here, & I cant conceive
their object in coming here in the River at all.
