Wind SE Clear. Needing Corn in lot near barn.
Farley Taylor came here this Evg in a boat. She says the Yankees
were at Bille Farm today Tearing down the railings & inclosures
and carrying it to Gloster Point.

Saturday 6
Wind SW a Thunder cloud and a fine rain last night.
Joshua ploughing for Peas & West lot. Boys, weeding corn

Sunday 7
Wind NW Clear & Cool. We staid at home. Mr Curtis
and Martha Page came here.  Mr C heard we had
driven the enemy from Vicksburg & they have retreated across
Big Black River & Johnson is after them. Their loss at
Vicksburg said to be upwards of Forty thousand, our loss small

Monday 8
Wind NW Clear & cool. Joshua ploughing. Boys weeding Corn

Tuesday 9
Wind W clear. Ploughing & weeding Corn.
Maria sister Ann & Martha went to Mr. Clarke’s
the Evg in the Ox Cart. I have no horse or Mules.

Wednesday 10
Wind W mg E evg clear. Ploughing & weeding Corn.

Thursday 11
Wind SW Clear. Shelled Corn. Joshua went to Jeff Stubbs
Mill to carry wheat & bring back flour that is there, and
carried Corn to Robin’s Mill. He will bring Richard home
with him from school
