Warfordsburg [December?] 18th 1864

Dear Friend at home

I seat
myself to inform you that i am well
at present and hope when these few lines
reach you they may find you all enjoying
good health.  I got down here on Sunday
evening about dark.  I tell you what i was cold.
I stoped at [Ganders?] and got the old mare
fed and then jogged heartly on.  I have taught
school three days and like it pretty well. when
I went to the school house on monday morning
there wasnt anything to make a fire with there
and then i went to the store and the old fellow
there told me to press a team and go to [?]
for a load of coal but there was no chance
of that on Monday and so i waited till the
next day and took [Phils?] team and [sled?]
and got an old [?] box in the [burg?] and Lucinda
went along and away we went and got nine
Bushels thats all the old box would [hold?]
at twenty five to a bushel.  I had to pay for it out
of my own pocket but it wont last more than
this week and i guess i'll come home on next
