Constitution and are now lying off that town.

2 US Vessels with troops went up the Bay Sunday &

5 transports ^ supposed up the Potomac Monday.

It is rumored there are 5000 Va Troops at Harpers Ferry &

5000 near Alexandria, 4000 south Carolinans[se?] coming

& when they concentrate, an attack will be immediately

made on Washington.  Col Robert E Lee, late of

US army has been appointed Major Genl of Va forces and

commander in chief.  The Va convention is in [Secret Session][underlined]
