Sinclair dined with me.
Saturday 13
Wind N Cloud in mg & a little rain. Finished Threshing
Wheat, 580 bushels. I went to Hickory Fork to a
meeting of “home Guards.” Mr Sinclair brought
Mr Seet the man wounded by Henry here this Ev.g
There was a skirmish near New Ports News yesterday
between about a hundred of our Cavelry and the same
number of the Enemy’s infantry. We killed five that
is known, and probably more. Captured Twelve & would
have got them all but they ran & hid in the woods.
Nobody hurt on our side. John & Henry Sinclair
were in it. Henry killed the second man who fell

Wind NW. Clear. There was some rain last night.
We staid at home. I rode to Mr Sinclairs in mg.
John Sinclair got home yesterday

Wind W. clear. Cultivation Corn with [3?] cultivators
Laying it by with hoes. A large Yankee
Steamer came into Mobjack Bay & Mouth of Severn River
yesterday & is now lying at Mouth of the Swash Chanel.
