20 August 1862 Ms Report on the patients at E.L.A. in regard to their ages, present conditions, causes of insanity, forms of insanity, & noted improvements. 4pp.

The number of patients who were inmates of the Eastern Lunatic Asylum for the maintenance and cure of insane persons, on August 20th 1862 was, two- hundred and fifty-two (252). Of these, one hundred and thirty nine (139) were males, and one hundred and thirteen females (113).
Since August 20th 1862 to the present time, five (5) have been admitted, two (2) males, and three (3) females,
The number of discharges Since August 20th 1862 to the present time are (7) Seven, five (5) males, and two (2) females,
Since August 20th 1862 two (2) male patients escaped, from the institution, And one male patient, who had permission to go fishing. a few miles west of Williamsburg a few days prior to the late raid. Since which time he has been residing with within the rebel lines,
The number of deaths Since August 20th 1862 , to the present time were, fifty-one, of these (41) forty-one were males and (10) females,
The number of patients remaining at present are one hundred and ninety-six, (196) of these ninety-two (92) are males, and one hundred and four (104) are females
