JUNE - 1918
-15
     Another uneventful week of
hospital life - pain about wound
gone but sinus persists requir-
ing daily dressing. Sleeping
well and feeling fine - Awfully
anxious to get back to outfit &
feel fit for duty of some kind.
More than ever does one see
inefficiency and lack of sys-
tem about here. Certainly would
hate to be real sick in a hos-
pital of this type. Majority of
Drs. seem uninterested in
their patients. K.O. ordered to other
command and raised to Lt.Col. The
general opinion of him is far
from good. Saw first Liberty
motor air-plane morning of
16th, two flew over hospital
at about 7000', a delightful
sounding engine.
Monotony broken by one picnic
in Woods on Friday 14" having
supper there. Into the city 15" visiting
Market places and Museum, see-
ing many interesting relics and
original paintings, among them
being saddle and a tea set_ medals
sword and some letters of Napoleon.
The dog of his stuffed & in glass
case (Coach-dog). The original
life size painting of "Murder
of Abel". Egyptian relics, pieces of
statuary,  busts +c All quite
interesting. Queen Anne furniture.
16-23
     Routine life in hospital
varied by occasional visit to
town yet very little there of
interest. Daily dressings continue
The 22" Saturday being the
15th anniversary of my wedding
to the best and sweetest girl, every
thing even to the weather seemed
to help me celebrate, a most
perfect day- best meal we've
had for some time and seven letters
arrived from Ditty. Past 15 yrs
convinces me that no one ever
loved a more deserving girl.
