For the greater part of his medical services this venerated Philan- thropist never received a farthing, & to the Luna- tic Asylum, (to which for many years he was Sur- geon)he gave all of the medicines used in the institution. His Father hav ing also during his medi- cal Superintendence given all the medicines. Thus for a period of more than half a century, was this donation made to patients officers & ser- vants by these two bene- volent physicians.
In his whole life, he was never known to press a debtor, indeed many a man, never paid him for the rea- son, that it was well- known how adverse he was to appeal to the law.
The press regarded Dr. Galt as their especial friend & so universally was his benevo- lence, & so notoriously dis- interested that it was the ge- neral belief in the coun- try about Wmsburg among them, that [...]
