Shucked in Barn Yard.  Shucked some in Field in Ev.g

I went to White Marsh & got my Two Carts & 10 [Bushels?]

Sweet Potatoes at 50c per bushel.

Maria & the children went to Wilsons Creek & sent from

there for Richard, & returned home in Ev.g.

Wind SW Cloudy & rained a little Shucking & putting away

Corn.  Got wood I went to the Court house.

The Yankees are at Falmouth & have [surrend?]

Fredericksburg to surrender in 18 hours or be shelled

They refused to surrender.

The barges rowed about the River but did not land here.

Sent to Mr Kemp the childrens 3 Hogs [?] 90, 93 & 85 lbs

Wind E & NE Rained all day.  I went over the River

& got four bushels salt from Ralph Rowe for Nr Curtis

I had just returned when [two][crossed out]  large Yankee Steamer[s][crossed out] &

a Tug came in the River.  They took all the good Boats
 +
& canoes they could find & destroyed all the indifferent ones.

Tye spent the night just in front of my house but did not land

Another large Yankee Steamer came in the River, quite a Fleet

They took Capt Willey’s & Stirling Row’s schooners.  Burnt West;s

& Mason’s sloops.  Took all the large Canoes & destroyed all the  
 +
small ones.  They then left with their prizes in Ev.g.  [Brave doings.][underlined]

They cut up H West’s 2 Boats.

November 1862

Thursday 27th

Wind NW Clear. Finished shucking the Corn Shucked in Barn Yard. Shucked some in Field in Ev.g I went to White Marsh & got my Two Carts & 10 [Bushels?] Sweet Potatoes at 50c per bushel.

Friday 28

Wind NW Clear. Shucking & putting away Corn from field Maria & the children went to Wilsons Creek & sent from there for Richard, & returned home in Ev.g.

Saturday 29

Wind SW Cloudy & rained a little Shucking & putting away Corn. Got wood I went to the Court house. The Yankees are at Falmouth & have [surrend?] Fredericksburg to surrender in 18 hours or be shelled They refused to surrender.

Sunday 30

Wind SW Rained nearly all day. We staid at home.
