We are all sorry to hear that little Mary Ellen is suffering so much with the breaking out and she has had so long but hope she will be relieved before long, if it is the will of God.

We hear that you think of going to house keeping in the spring if nothing prevents and that Lucy Fleet has kindly offerd to let you have Malinda & a little daughter of hers if so & peer will agree to go with her I have concluded to let him go [,] I am sorry I did not ask John when he was up last, I intend to let him have some money to help him pay for his land & would be glad to know when he will [need?] it

Your Ma has been unwell for more than a week but is now better, I am also quite unwell with a bad cold, we want to come down to see yo but the roads are so bad & the weather so inclement I dot expect we shall be able to do until the spring

Cousin Harriet Courtney died in Richmond last thursday and the corps was brought over & interd [when?] bro Diggs now [??] [is?] over with the Corpse is We have company almost every day, a great many waggons passing yr affectionate Father my kind regards to John, bro W[??] & wife John Bagby
