My dear Sir
I haved spent nearly
all the time since I saw you last
in trying to Escape the Draft
and last night was in the 6th Ward
they have raised Enough money to
buy substitutes but cant get them
for they were 100 days men at St
Louis & are sent to the front -
I have to report (Wednesday)
to morrow the 12th and if accep-
ted, will probably be sent to
Springfield the same night. I
may however be kept in Chicago
My only hope now is to
secure a good position if I can
and I think I can get a
little influence to start me
