My Dear Elizabeth

It
is all nonsense for you to be buying wine &c
when you do not at all understand the
business.  The Revnd Fathers encounter a great
deal, & are forced to drink when they can get it of
any quality.  This spoils the delicacy of taste
so what would suit them would not
at all suit me.  Keep your money for
something more useful.  I got
a letter from Sister [Stanislaus?] which I will
try to answer soon - though it will be
hard to do.  I will attend to the request you make
for Cousin Francis.  Pauline, is faithful, & honest
but has the temper of the Old [Boy?] himself.  I feel
very sorry to hear of Cousin Francis' accident
& hope there will be no other consequences.
Excuse a short letter.  I only write now
to let you know I am a little better.  [?] is
[soon?] to be married to a Mr. Scott of Prince Edward before [?]
Mrs. Elizabeth S. Ewell
yours affectionately
Bro. S. Ewell
