Tuesday 9th Wind S.W. Clear. [Began to Thresh Raked][crossed out] [Wheat. Threshed 75 Bushels.][crossed out] Finished breaking up Middles. Running cultivators in Corn. Hauled in raked wheat in Ev.g. Put down my Machine. Nothing reliable from our armies.

Wednesday 10 Wind SW Clear. Began to thresh raked wheat Treshed 75 bushels. [It is very hot][underlined] Warner went to Gloster Point. Nothing new. Mr Goggin has been appointed Major in Col Ewells Regiment stationed in Williamsburg and goes over there To,morrow. Genl Patterson com[n][written over]ding the Yankee army of invasion and Genl Johnston commanding the Southern forces are within three Miles of each other near Martinsburg Va. a Battle is hourly expected

Thursday 11 Wind W. Clear in m.g. a cloud in Evg & a little rain. Threshing Wheat. Jeff & Fayette Sinclair got to their Fathers yesterday, when they left all quiet in the Peninsula. To.day 2 regiments from York town & 2 from Richmond went to Williamsburg, they must expect an attack there. Sparrow says they asked him at Old Point where Mr Colin Clarke, Mr WP Smith, Col F L Taylor & myself lived in Gloster We must be marked men. I didnt know I was so distinguished.
