Thursday 23

Wind N Clear & cool. Getting off Corn. The Gun Boat
left the River this morning. I went to Mrs Carney’s & got
53 yds cloth for peoples Clothes. Called by Frank Clarks & left
a calf skin & sole Leather for Washington to make a pair of
Shoes each for Daughter Richard & Maria.

Friday 24

Wind W Clear. Getting off Corn. Began to Plough
in lot in front of house with a Mule & Steer plough for wheat.

Saturday 25

Wind SW Clear. Ploughing two Ploughs. Cutting down & shucking
Corn in the filed. I went to Ct house. Mr Curtis &
his family dined here.

Sunday 26

Wind NE Rained all day. A Gun Boat came in
the River this mg, went up the left prong. Sent two Barges
& took Robert Howard’s Sloop and now have her tied
astern. Howard is in the confederate Army.

Monday 27

Wind NW. Rained till 12 o.clk, then cleared off
Nick ploughed in Ev.g. William sick. Cutting & shucking Corn
The steamer went out in mg but returned very shortly
They attempted to carry Howard’s Sloop away but she
turned over in the River & they left her behind.
I went to see Mr Sinclair. He is stil quite sick. Daughter very unwell
