Dear father and Mother

I now sed my self down to write a few lines to let you no that we are all well at present and hoping that these few lines may find you all in the same state of good health and further i let you no that we recevid your letter yesterday and we was very glat to here from you again and I let you no that we are not more as aboud one mile from the reples any more we did take to the reples when we was on picked gard and i did see there camps and flags and every sings that i want to see and they fired at us like hell and we fired and [crossed out ] once and sho[crossed out] shot aboud thirty of them i exbect we git a hard
