Thomas E. Thorne was a member of the faculty in Fine Arts at the College of William and Mary from 1940 through 1975. His appointments: Instructor in Fine Arts, 1940-1943; Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, 1943-1945; Associate Professor of Fine Arts, 1945-1965; Professor of Fine Arts, 1965-1975; Professor of Fine Arts, Emeritus, 1975. He was awarded the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award in 1976.
