Thomas F. Sheppard was a professor of history at the College of William and Mary, and was chair of the Lyon G. Tyler Department of History from 1975-1981. A former marine, his areas of academic interest focused around French cultural studies. He died of cancer 25 August 1995, and a memorial fund was established in his honor.
