Welcome to the Special Collections Research Center Wiki!
The Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) Wiki provides links to select frequently asked questions and quick facts from material in the SCRC's manuscripts, university archives, and rare books collections. Presently, much of the information in the wiki is about or related to the College of William and Mary along with a smaller amount of information related to collections in the SCRC. More information is added on a regular basis and you are bound to find something of interest here.
The first pages created in the wiki were campus buildings and landmarks, lists of honorary degree recipients and commencement speakers with new pages added on a regular basis. Biographical pages were recently added for all of the presidents of the College of William and Mary from the first, Rev. James Blair, to the current president, W. Taylor Reveley III.
To get started, you may want to check out some of the categories used to organize information in this wiki with William and Mary buildings currently holding the top spot as the largest category. However, even the information on these pages is not complete as new information continues to be uncovered in the SCRC's collections and elsewhere.
Researchers are strongly encouraged to the SCRC's other access tools in addition to the SCRC Wiki for their research as the information contained in this wiki is by no means comprehensive.
Please contact (email@example.com or 757-221-3090) the SCRC with any questions, comments, or suggestions.
Some pages formerly contained in this wiki related to administration of the SCRC, including pages related to Archon, DSpace, accessioning and processing, and material pulled for classes and other visitors were moved to the SCRC Staff Wiki in July 2009.
Special Collections Research Center
Swem Library's Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) custom written papers at the College of William and Mary is a learning lab for students, much like a science lab, except the raw materials we offer for your experimentation and observation are original manuscripts, photographs, rare books, sheet music, maps, and other unique or rare treasures documenting humanity's history and culture.
Questions? Contact the SCRC at firstname.lastname@example.org or 757-221-3090, or visit the Special Collections Research Center in the Earl Gregg Swem Library at the College of William and Mary (hours). Contact information for individual staff members is available.
