Henry Billups (1872-1955)

Henry "Doc" Billups (1872-1955) worked for the College of William and Mary from 1888-1952. He not only rang the bell in the Wren Building for over 60 years, but also served as the head janitor, managed livestock that was on campus, brought the mail from the post office, and other duties around campus. During Prohibition, Billups was known as a procurer of alcohol for the students.
