Francis Rives Lassiter

Francis Rives Lassiter was born in Petersburg, Va. on 18 February 1868. He graduated from the law department of the University of Virginia and began to practice law in Boston, Mass. Lassiter returned to Petersburg and was the city attorney of Petersburg 1888-1893 and was appointed U. S. District Attorney for the Eastern District in 1893. He served in the U. S. House of Representatives 1900-1903 and 1907-1909. He died on 31 October 1909. His brother Charles Trotter Lassiter was also a lawyer in Petersburg. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates and State Senate.
